No. 05 Majlis — Oud, Rose, Saffron

Family: WELCOME. Built for entrances — lobbies, majlis, reception, the first thirty seconds of a guest's visit.

Oud is the most abused note in this region. Done badly it is a heavy, smoky wall that fills a room and stays in the curtains for a week. No. 05 takes the opposite approach: a clean Cambodian oud accord held up by Taif rose and a thread of saffron, formulated deliberately light so it reads as hospitality rather than as perfume. It says someone prepared this room for you. It does not say someone sprayed something.

Composition

• Top: saffron, pink pepper, bergamot
• Heart: Taif rose, geranium, a trace of cardamom
• Base: Cambodian oud accord, sandalwood, dry amber, white musk

Consumption
