The question nobody in this industry wants to answer.
Go to any scent brand in this region and try to find out what is in the bottle. You will get adjectives — premium, luxury, imported, long-lasting — and a note list that reads like a poem. You will not get a composition, an allergen declaration, or a VOC figure.
That matters, because the concerns people raise about commercial scenting are not imaginary. Fragrance formulations have historically used phthalates as fixatives, some are endocrine disruptors, and airborne fragrance is a documented trigger for asthma and respiratory irritation in sensitive people. “Trust us, it is premium” is not a response to any of that.
Our position
Phthalate-free
No DEP, DBP, DEHP or any other phthalate is used as a fixative in any Scent Engineer formulation. Longevity comes from the structure of the composition, which is harder and more expensive to do, and does not require the shortcut.
Alcohol-free
No ethanol carrier. Three consequences, all of them good: nothing dries out the air or irritates the throat, nothing is classified UN1266 flammable so shipping across the GCC is straightforward and cheaper, and the formulation is appropriate for every market and household we serve.
IFRA 51st Amendment certified
Every formulation is compliant with the current International Fragrance Association standard for its usage category, and we re-certify when the standard changes. Certificates are downloadable from each product page.
Low-VOC, tested to ISO 16000
Volatile organic compound emissions are measured under the ISO 16000 indoor air quality series at our stated maximum dose, not at some theoretical minimum. Test reports are published.
Full allergen declaration
All 26 EU-declarable fragrance allergens are listed by name and concentration on every product datasheet — the same disclosure a cosmetic product must carry. If you or someone in your household reacts to linalool or limonene, you can check before you buy rather than after you react.
Not tested on animals. Vegan.
And the honest caveats
We would rather say this plainly than let you discover it later.
- “Natural” is not a safety claim, and we do not make it. Many natural essential oils are more allergenic than synthetic aroma molecules — bergamot, citrus and cinnamon among them. Our compositions use both, chosen on performance and safety data, not on marketing.
- Any fragrance can affect a sensitive person. Low-VOC and allergen-declared reduces risk. It does not eliminate it. If you have asthma or a diagnosed fragrance sensitivity, talk to your doctor before scenting a space you sleep in.
- Dose matters more than ingredients. A well-formulated oil at three times the correct dose is worse for the room than an ordinary one dosed properly. This is why we sell calibration as hard as we sell the oil.
- Keep oils away from children and pets, and do not apply them to skin. These are room formulations. They are not cosmetics.
