No. 12 Desert Rain — Petrichor, Cardamom, Damp Earth

Everyone who has lived in the Gulf knows the smell of the first rain — the twenty minutes when the dust settles, the air drops five degrees, and the whole country goes outside to stand in it. Petrichor is a real, describable compound: geosmin released from dry ground by falling water. No. 12 is built around it.

The result is unusual for this category. It is not sweet, not floral, not oud. It reads as cool, mineral and green, with cardamom and a little wet stone. People stop and ask what it is, which is the only reliable test of a signature scent.
